Katakolon → Ancient Olympia
The realistic sequence from the pier: three minutes to the taxi rank or train station, then 35 to 50 minutes inland by taxi or train, roughly 90 minutes at the site and museum if you keep a steady pace, and the same again back. Door to door, that is close to three hours before you’ve allowed for any slack — which is most of a typical port day, and the entire reason ships call here at all.
The last safe departure from Olympia is whichever taxi or train gets you back to Katakolon with a real margin before all-aboard, not the one that arrives with minutes to spare — the seafront strip takes ten minutes to see, so there’s little to do with a tight buffer anyway. Given the choice, most travellers are better served treating Olympia as the entire day rather than trying to add much else: it’s the reason the ship calls here, and the round trip earns its place even on a short call, as long as the return time is firm rather than hopeful.
