Riomaggiore is the safest of the four connections precisely because it is the shortest: allow ten to thirty minutes to reach La Spezia Centrale from the ship depending on your berth, then a ten-minute regional ride puts you in the village. The platform can still be crowded in August, so budget a wait for a train with room rather than assuming the first one that pulls in will take you.
